Accessibility Statement

At The Bat Co Lab, we are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible digital experience for all users — including those using assistive technologies, screen readers, or alternative navigation methods. We are continuously working to meet and exceed recognised accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Our Accessibility Commitment

We aim to comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, and in many areas, we meet or exceed Level AAA requirements.

Key features we've implemented include:

Contrast & Colour Accessibility

All core text and interface elements meet or exceed WCAG AA and AAA contrast requirements:

Dark blue on turquoise | 9.61:1 | WCAG AA & AAA (normal + large text + UI)

Dark blue on purple | 7.02:1 | WCAG AA & AAA (normal + large text + UI)

White on dark blue | 17.96:1 | WCAG AA & AAA (normal + large text + UI)

Dark blue on light grey | 15.76:1 | WCAG AA & AAA (normal + large text + UI)

Contrast analysis conducted using WebAIM Contrast Checker.

Clear Navigation & Interaction

  • Links and buttons are labelled with clear, descriptive text to aid keyboard and screen reader navigation, where possible.

  • All navigation elements and CTAs are keyboard-accessible.

  • Focus styles are preserved for interactive elements to help users track movement through the site.

Alternative Text & Descriptions

  • Alt text has been added to all images for screen reader compatibility and context.

  • Captions are provided for key user guides and documents, offering brief overviews of their contents.

Scalable Text & Responsive Layout

  • The site is built using scalable units (em, rem, %) to support text resizing and zoom functionality without loss of usability.

  • Layout and font sizes respond fluidly across different screen sizes and devices.

Plain Language & Inclusive Testing

  • Content is written in clear, simple language to improve readability and comprehension.

  • Feedback has been collected from a broad demographic of users to ensure the site is practical, intuitive, and welcoming.

  • Our content and design will continue to evolve based on user feedback and accessibility reviews.

Accessible Forms & Inputs

  • Form fields use descriptive labels and accessible structures to support assistive technologies.

  • Input borders and field elements meet WCAG AA contrast requirements.
